Content Weapons

#contentweapons is AWSOME!

If you are lucky you get exposed to people or concepts that alter you world view in such a way that it becomes part of your character. The book Content Weapons by Michael Stattelman is exactly one of those rare peices of information.

What are Content Weapons? As described by Michael: They are intentionally engineered messages or payloads (text, images, sounds or videos) using a digital delivery system aimed at a location or group of a given mindset, with the express purpose of a targeted action, impression, behavior or response. Not to be confused with "Computational propaganda" as Content Weapons are not limited to the political arena or social media technologies specifically. Content Weapons are neither predominantly positive or negative, but the intention determines the connotation.

What does this mean to you? If you run or are in charge of any organization that conducts marketing or branding of any kind, this book is a must read. Even if you personally dont want to read it you had better damn well ensure that those tasked with communications for your company are reading or have read it. This is the new relevence across all forms of messaging and media, whether you have a nonprofit that relies on donations or a small independant merchant. Your message is the life blood of your revenue stream. That is why its important to you!

Content Weapons is a term coined by J. Michael Stattelman in his book of the same title ,Content Weapons: Strategies for Total Domination in the Attention Economy.".

Not at all trying to be hyperbolic when I say that, organizations should start to base the credibility of potential candidates for any position that entails Marketing, Baranding Social Media or Communications on whether or not that person is familiar with or has read this book.

This in this genraations equivalent to 10 years of experience and a Masters degree in the future of Marketing and Communications!
